STD (Sexually transmitted disease)
Disease, infection or condition that is almost exclusively transmitted
through sexual activity. Also known as a sexually transmitted infection
(STI), venereal disease (VD) or social disease.
Sadism
The deriving of sexual gratification by inflicting pain on others. Named after the Marquis de Sade.
Sadomasochism
A popular, nonclinical term for behaviors that involve both sexual
sadism as well as masochism, often in a consensual, role-playing
manner. Also known as S&M or S/M.
Safe Sex
Safe sex refers to the precautions we take in order not to give or
receive sexually transmitted diseases. In addition to AIDS, the most
feared STD, there are a number of other viruses and infections that can
be passed between partners. Hepatitis, herpes, genital warts,
chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea are the most common. The risks of
these diseases range from pain to infertility to death, but through
certain safe sex practices you can reduce or eliminate the risk of
transmission. The key to safe sex is to prevent bodily fluids, which can carry
viruses or bacteria, from being transmitted between partners. Blood,
semen, and vaginal juices are all fluids that can transmit STDS. Dry
humping and mutual masturbation do not involve the exchange of bodily
fluids and are no-risk activities. If you choose to let the juices flow
however, you’ll want to use a barrier. Condoms, dental dams, and gloves are all designed to keep bodily fluids from being passed between
partners. Condoms are typically used on a penis, but there is also a
female condom on the market. Most condoms are made of latex, butpolyurethane is a newer material that appeals to folks that have latex
sensitivity. Specially-designed condoms with roomier tips are designed
to maximize sensation. Dental dams, made of latex, are used during oral
sex, and latex gloves are used when you don’t want cuts from your
fingers to come into contact with your partner’s bodily fluids. An important goal of safe sex is to decide what risk feels ok to you
and then to communicate that to your partner.
Scrotum
The loose sac of skin containing the testes.
Semen
The alkaline fluid expelled from the penis during ejaculation, containing fluids combined from several glands as well as sperm.
Seminal Fluid
The liquid portion of the male ejaculate.
Sex Toy
Sex toys are tools that can help you learn
more about your sexuality, they can improve your sexual technique, and
they can add a buzz to partner sex.
Sexual Orientation
The classification of a person's desires based on the gender of the people to whom they are attracted.
Silicone
A premium-grade material used in dildos, silicone is non-porous (so it's
easy to clean), warms quickly, and transmits vibration well.
Sixty-nine (69)
A sexual position in which the genitals of both partners are orally stimulated at the same time.
Skene's Glands
Glands opening into the urethra; in women, the Skene's Glands produce the fluid released during female ejaculation.
Special warranty deed
An agreement whereby the current owner/seller guarantees he has done nothing that would impair or cloud title, but does not make any guarantee for what occurred prior to his ownership of the property
Smegma
Secretions, dirt particles, dead skin, and bacteria that accumulate
under the foreskin in men or the hood of the clitoris in women.
Sperm
The male reproductive cell.
Strap-On
Strap-ons are dildos designed to be worn in a harness, so that you can
penetrate your partner without having to hold the dildo in place. Strap-on dildos are characterized by a flared base, which secures
the dildo in the harness and prevents it from popping through during
rigorous sex play. In the old days, a strap-on dildo was an all-in-one
dildo/harness contraption, typically made of flimsy elastic, which
proved uncomfortable for the wearer (think of the toy snapping back
onto your body when your partner unclenches it!). Today’s harnesses
come in a much greater variety of styles, including sexy leather or
sporty webbing. They’re fully adjustable, so you can get a secure fit,
regardless of your body type. Dildos, many made of premium silicone,
are also available in styles and colors to suit any desire, so whether
you’re craving a curved toy for G-spot play or a graduated toy for anal
play, you can rig up a strap-on dildo that’ll get the job done.
